Let’s dive into this beautiful story from New Zealand, narrated with a candid approach from the perspective of two wedding documentary photographers.

A NECESSARY PROLOGUE

We clearly remember the day we received a message of congratulations from Madoka, for being named a finalists in Lens Culture Exposure Award. She fell in love with our photographic style and wanted us to photograph her wedding. We thought it was going to happen in Japan, but when she told us that they chose New Zealand, we was more than happy.

Indeed, you should know that Greg, who is the Chief Photographer of AFP in Beijing, is originally from Auckland, therefore they decided to tie the knot in his native land.

A STREET AND DOCUMENTARY APPROACH

When a couple hires me for a Destination Wedding, I like to shoot even during the trip. In this case, we had a 9-hour layover in Taipei, so we decided to have a quick tour of the city, shooting in the street market and the Temple area. You can find some pictures in the intro.

Plus, we spent a few weeks in New Zealand, moving from North to South Island, visiting Rotorua, Wellington, Abel Tasman National Park, Wanaka, Queenstown, and the breathtaking Milford Sound. Some pictures from those places are below as well

THE WEDDING

As a Photographers, we felt so lucky to be in New Zealand for Madoka and Greg’s wedding, and the fact that they wanted a documentary and street style was definitely our cup of tea!

We felt honored and a little bit scared, to be honest, since lots of the guests were professional photojournalists from the biggest agencies in the world, like Associated Press, Reuters, AFP. In short, a bit of anxiety is understandable, don’t you think?

They chose the stunning Mudbrick Vineyard in Waiheke Island to celebrate their wedding day. Places like that are perfect for intimate weddings. The view over the Auckland skyline is simply amazing, and when the sun goes down you enjoy an unforgettable set.
